Biography

Juanita Brockdorff is a distinguished Maltese warranted lawyer and internationally recognized tax specialist with over two decades of expertise at the pinnacle of international corporate tax advisory services. Armed with a Master of Laws in International Tax Law from the University of Leiden, Netherlands (summa cum laude), she has established herself as one of Malta’s foremost authorities in international taxation.

Professional Excellence

Juanita’s remarkable career trajectory at a Big Four firm in Malta spanned from tax advisor to Partner, where she served as International Tax Partner for 13 years. Her specialized expertise encompasses international corporate tax planning and reorganizations, exchange of information protocols, transfer pricing, cross-border double tax relief, and sophisticated estate planning strategies. She has provided strategic tax counsel to multinational corporations and high-net-worth individuals across diverse sectors. Her leadership roles included Country Tax Leader for European Taxation and Gaming Tax Partner, while also serving the financial services sector—from asset managers and investment funds to insurance underwriters. This breadth of experience positions her uniquely to navigate complex cross-jurisdictional tax challenges. 

Since setting up independently, Juanita flourished in bringing her knowledge and down to earth approach in support of her clients.  

Thought Leadership & Academia

As a prominent voice in international tax discourse, Juanita had co-founded the International Tax Conference in Malta alongside the Malta Academy for Taxation Studies, an annual flagship event featuring world-class experts discussing cutting-edge tax developments. Her scholarly contributions appear in prestigious publications including International Law Review, European Taxation, EC Tax Review, Intertax, and Captive and Art Review.

Her academic involvement includes lecturing Advanced Taxation for ACCA and the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) through the UK Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT). She has served as examiner for tax dissertations at the University of Malta’s Doctor of Laws program.

Professional Leadership

Juanita’s commitment to advancing the profession is evident through her extensive service roles. She has served on the Council of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners for years, chairing its Tax Committee for over a decade. As Branch Secretary of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) Malta, she continues to foster international tax cooperation. Her policy influence extends to providing strategic tax legislation and policy advice to the Government, particularly on EU-related matters.
